Accept Sponsored Messaging Sender Permissions for LinkedIn Message ads

This article will guide you on how to accept the invite to be the sender of a Message ad or conversational ad

LinkedIn Message Ads and Conversation Ads are powerful tools that allow you to reach prospects directly through their LinkedIn inbox. Instead of appearing in a user's feed, these ads show up as personalized messages, sent from a real LinkedIn profile—known as the sender.

This format can be highly effective for B2B campaigns, event invitations, lead generation, and more, especially when targeting warm or retargeted audiences.

Message Ads offer a single call-to-action and Conversation Ads provide a more interactive experience, enabling recipients to choose between multiple paths (e.g., “Register for the Webinar” or “Learn More”).

What It Means to Be a Sender

In a LinkedIn Message or Conversation Ad campaign, the sender is the LinkedIn profile that appears to be sending the message.

Being a sender does not mean the person will manually send messages or need to manage the campaign—it’s simply a branding element that makes the ad feel more personal and trustworthy.

Steps for Approving a LinkedIn Ad Sender Request

When we initiate a Message or Conversation Ad campaign on your behalf, we will request approval for a selected sender. Here's how to approve it:

1. Expect a LinkedIn Notification

The designated sender will receive a LinkedIn notification or email with a request to approve the use of their profile as a sender for a sponsored message.

This request will come directly from LinkedIn. The name of the person requesting access will come from the LinkedIn ads specialist at CommonMind.

2. Click “Review Request” or “Approve Access”

Clicking the link will take the sender to the LinkedIn Ads interface (don’t worry—they don’t need to manage or access the campaign itself).

They’ll see details about:

  • The ad account name (your company)

  • Campaign use (e.g., Sponsored Message campaign)

  • The action to approve their profile as the sender

Move the toggle from off to on, and you’re set.

Example image for reference. You will see your company logo.

3. Profile Permissions

Once approved, the sender’s profile will be visible to ad recipients as the message author. This includes:

  • Their profile picture

  • Job title

  • Company name

The sender's LinkedIn inbox will not receive replies—this is a one-way ad format unless configured with a reply call-to-action (such as “Reply with Interest”).

4. That’s It! You’re All Set

After approval, we take care of the rest:

  • Message creation

  • Target audience setup

  • Campaign launch and monitoring

The sender won't need to take any further steps; once you give your approval, you can be the sender for other campaigns for your company's ads.

Important Notes

  • No admin access is required—just a one-time approval.

  • CommonMind will send message content to your team for approval before launch.
