When setting up a display campaign, be careful with the targeting:
While configuring the ad group, click on the Additional Settings button:
It will open a hidden setting called “Optimized Targeting”. Please toggle it off. By default it will be on, meaning that Google will expand at their convenience the targeting. This tends to be a problem, specifically when dealing with a retargeting campaign.
