How to publish social posts

  • In your HubSpot account, navigate to Marketing > Social.
  • The social publishing dashboard displays all social posts that have been published from your HubSpot account.
  • In the upper right, click Create social post.
  • In the right panel, select the first social network to publish your social post to. You can publish social posts to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or LinkedIn.
  • In the text box, enter the content for your social post.
  • To add emojis to your post, click the emoji icon.
  • If you're creating a Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, or Twitter post, you can use the @ symbol to mention or tag other accounts. Instagram mentions will not be auto-completed, but Instagram will acknowledge the mention when the post is live.
  • Add hashtags to your posts using the # symbol. Hashtags will not be hyperlinked in the drafted post or in the preview, unless you're previewing a Twitter post. The hashtag will be hyperlinked after you publish the post.

After you've drafted your post content, choose the content you're going to promote.

  • To attach a HubSpot-hosted blog post or landing page to your post, click the attach icon and select the blog post or landing page, then click OK. This will insert the title and link of your content directly into your social post.
  • If you want to share content that isn't hosted on HubSpot, enter the content link directly into the text box.
  • Once you've added the content link, a post preview will be generated from the content metadata. This will include a picture (if available), title, meta description (if available), and link.

To insert an image, click the image icon insert Image:

  • You can select an existing image in your file manager, or click Add image to upload a new image from your device or a URL. You can adjust the image's optimization settings before inserting the image into your post.
    • To use a stock image from Shutterstock, click into the search bar and enter a search term, then press the Enter key and click the Stock images tab. Click an image to review its details, then click Insert to add it to your social post.
  • If you're posting to Facebook or Twitter, you can post up to four images in one social post. Click the image icon insert Image again to insert another image.
  • If you're posting to Facebook, Twitter, or a LinkedIn Company Page, you can insert a video by clicking the video icon insert Video. You can select an existing video in your file manager, or click Upload videos to upload a new video from your device.
  • The composer will automatically select a publish date based on your social publishing schedule, but you can change the date by clicking the When dropdown menu. You can select a specific date and time, or click Publish now to publish the social post immediately.
  • Lastly, select a HubSpot campaign to associate the social post with. In the bottom right, click the Campaign dropdown menu and select a campaign or click Create a new campaign.
  • Once you've finished setting up your social post, you can choose to publish another post or publish to another social account by clicking the corresponding social icon next to Schedule another. This will automatically duplicate your existing post content into the new post.
  • In the bottom left, click Schedule post or Publish post now to schedule it for publishing or publish it immediately, depending on the publish date and time you selected.

Bulk uploading

  • Bulk scheduling is available for Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
  • There is a limit of 200 posts per bulk upload.
  • At this time, it is not possible to bulk upload images or videos with your social posts. You will need to manually edit each social post once uploaded to HubSpot to attach an image or video.

Instructions

  • In your HubSpot account, navigate to Marketing > Social. The Publishing tab will be selected by default.
  • In the upper right, click Schedule in bulk.
  • In the dialog box, click Download Excel import template (Recommended) to download a customized and interactive template with a date column pre-populated based on your custom social publishing schedule. Alternatively, click Download CSV import template to download a generic template.
  • Open the downloaded import template file on your device. There are five main columns in the import template files:
    • Account: the social account where you want the post published. If you're using the Excel template file, you can select an account from the dropdown menu in the column cells. This field is required.
    • Date: dates must entered in the format "mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm". For example, "3:00 PM on April 15, 2018" would be formatted as "04/15/2018 15:00". You can use formulas to calculate your date fields, and HubSpot will use the derived value of the formula. This field is required.
    • Message: the actual content of your post. This field is required.
    • Link: the URL that you are sharing in your post. All links will be shortened automatically. This field is optional, as you can also include your link in the message column (as part of your post), or publish a post with no link at all.
    • Campaign: the campaign to associate with your post. Match the spelling and capitalization of an existing campaign to associate it or enter a new campaign name to have that campaign created in HubSpot. If you're using the Excel template file, you can select a campaign from the dropdown menu in the column cells. This field is optional.
  • These columns can be in any order in the file you upload, but they must be present on the first page of your spreadsheet. Any information included on other pages or in other columns will be ignored.
  • When you're done adding your social posts, save your template file and navigate back to HubSpot.

Upload your bulk scheduling import file

  • In the dialog box, click Select a file or drag and drop your import template file into the Upload CSV/Excel File box.
  • In the bottom left, click Upload.

Review your uploaded social posts

  • Once your import template file has been uploaded and processed, you'll be redirected to the Uploaded tab in the social publishing tool.
  • Review your uploaded social posts, then click Schedule x posts to schedule them for publishing.
    • You can also click Move all to drafts to keep editing the posts in HubSpot, or click Cancel upload to delete the uploaded posts.
