What Does It Mean to Boost a LinkedIn Post?

Boosting a post helps your best content reach more of the right people. When we request a boost, you’ll see an email from LinkedIn asking for approval. Once you accept, we handle the rest.

At CommonMind, we sometimes recommend boosting a LinkedIn post as part of your advertising strategy. A boosted post takes content your company has already published organically on LinkedIn and turns it into a paid ad. This allows the content to reach more people in your target audience than it would through organic distribution alone.

Boosting is useful when a post is already resonating with your followers or aligns with a specific campaign goal, such as:

  • Raising brand awareness.

  • Driving traffic to your website.

  • Increasing engagement (likes, comments, shares).

  • Putting your company’s message in front of a highly targeted audience.

What You Can Expect When We Boost a Post

Since CommonMind manages your LinkedIn advertising, we will handle the technical setup of the boost. Here’s what the process looks like on your side:

1. You Will Receive an Email From LinkedIn

When we initiate a boost for one of your company’s posts, LinkedIn automatically sends a notification email to the Page Admin(s). The subject line usually mentions “Sponsorship request” or “Boost request.”

2. Review the Request

The email will:

  • Identify the post we’ve selected to boost.

  • Provide you with the option to approve or deny the sponsorship.

3. Approve the Boost

To allow the campaign to go live, a designated Page Admin at your company must approve the sponsorship request directly from the LinkedIn email.
